Garissa County, Kenya · Est. 2017
Fountain of Hope is a community-rooted NGO working alongside the people of Garissa County in health, education, water & sanitation, and livelihood development — because real change is built from within.
Who we are
Fountain of Hope (FOH) was established and registered with the Garissa County Social Development Office (Reg. No. GSA//HC/G/CD/2B/034), founded in response to the persistent neglect of pastoralist and ASAL communities in Kenya's development landscape.
"A country where communities are empowered and advancing towards meeting their basic needs."
Our mission: to improve livelihoods and wellbeing of vulnerable community members through strategic partnerships and sustainable programs in governance, education, public health, food security, shelter, natural resources management and environmental management.
What we do
FOH's 2024–2029 Strategic Plan is built around four thematic pillars — Health, Education, Community Resilience, and Small Enterprise Development — reflecting the most pressing needs of Garissa County's vulnerable communities.
Expanding access to reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health services with enhanced male involvement and strengthened community health volunteers.
Improving access to clean and safe drinking water in a county where only 23.8% of the population has access to safe water and the average distance to the nearest water point is 25km.
Increasing enrolment, retention and graduation of girls in ECDE and primary schools through menstrual health support, school libraries, and community advocacy.
Improving nutrition of ECDE children through supplementary school milk and feeding initiatives, boosting attendance and cognitive development for young learners.
Reducing vulnerability and enhancing adaptive capacity to climate change through livelihood diversification, environmental conservation, and inclusion of women and persons with disability.
Supporting small business development for women and youth through skills training, mentorship and linkages to Shariah-compliant financing opportunities in Garissa County.
